About: Behind the Sketchbook

Why we start with steel silhouettes, masking tape, and proportion ratios before ever opening a colour chart.

Why Body Lines Come Before Fashionable Colours

Walk through any custom motorcycle show or Sunday riders' meet and you will see dozens of expensive paint jobs—heavy metalflake, complex airbrushed murals, and colour-shifting pearls—that somehow make the motorcycle look awkward from twenty feet away. Almost always, the root cause is the same: the colour or graphic was chosen in isolation before anyone studied the pressed creases of the fuel tank, the rake of the front forks, or the slope of the tail section.

Snapshotshowpickmosac was built as an independent digital sketchbook for riders, garage builders, and design-minded owners who want their motorcycle's paintwork to look intentional. Instead of pushing seasonal colour trends or specific paint brands, our fieldnotes focus on visual literacy: reading compound curves, balancing the 70–20–10 palette ratio, sizing twin coachlines, and planning clearcoat protection around real-world riding wear.

Separating Visual Design from Chemical Coating Specs

Planning a custom paint scheme involves two completely different skills: visual composition and chemical application. Any rider can—and should—take part in mocking up masking lines with fine-line vinyl tape on their own bike, testing curved colour swatches in outdoor sunlight, and specifying exactly where tank badges and knee pads sit.

When it comes to abrasive grit sequences, epoxy primer sealing, isocyanate two-pack (2K) clearcoat mixing, and spray-booth extraction, there is no universal rulebook—every paint system has its own mandatory Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and safety protocols. By keeping our guides focused squarely on visual layout, geometry, and finish selection, we help you walk into a professional custom paint shop with a clear, buildable brief.
